| The
Anti-Free Radical Activity (Anti-FRA) score, in conjunction
with the Free Radical Activity (FRA) score, weighs the benefits
versus the risks of hormones you are currently taking or are
thinking about taking. These scores can also be used to monitor
supplements that have hormone-like effects, e.g."anabolic"
supplements.
Any
hormone or combination of hormones that you take should bring
or keep your Anti-FRA and FRA scores below 40. When both of
these scores are below 40, the benefits of the hormone(s) you
are taking far outweigh their risks. In fact, if hormones decrease
a high Anti-FRA and/or FRA score, you are benefitting from the
hormonal effects of the hormones AND from their contribution
to your overall longterm health. On the other hand, if hormones
cause an increase in either or both of these scores, the risks
outweigh the benefits.
Hormones
include the estrogens (estradiol, estriol and estrone), progesterone,
testosterone, human growth hormone, DHEA, pregnenalone, prednisone
and more. The Anti-FRA and FRA scores can be used to monitor
hormones whether hormones are being used for menopause, contraception,
libido, bone density, heart disease, longevity or body building.
It
is important to monitor hormone use with the Anti-FRA and FRA
because unwanted effects from hormones will show up in these
scores before symptoms, i.e., before you know it.
Please
note...other factors such as diet, stress, exercise, cell hydration,
medications and more can increase and decrease your Anti-Free
Radical Activity (Anti-FRA) and the Free Radical Index. See
